Governor Recognizes Four Clarksville Reward Schools
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman announced 168 schools as the 2013-14 Reward Schools, the top 5 percent of schools in the state for academic achievement and the top 5 percent for annual growth. Four of those schools are in CMCSS, with the announcement staged at Hazelwood Elementary.
State Releases District Data
The State Department of Education released district level achievement data taken from last spring’s assessments for grades 3-high school. CMCSS remained in the same category as last year, in Need of Improvement.

2014 READING KICKOFF
This year Norman Smith is ready to Set a Goal and Aim High! The students have been challenged to read 20,000 books. They are working for a goal of 85% proficient on the AR tests. For our Reading Kickoff we were joined by several special guests. Northeast High School Step Team, Cheerleaders, and Drum Line cheered the students on and inspired the students to set goals. Director of Schools B.J. Worthington, Elementary Supervisor Beth Unfried, and Representative Joe Pitts were also on hand to encourage students and teachers.
