Lady Viking Wrestling Results
The Lady Viking wrestlers competed in the middle Tennessee regional wrestling tournament Saturday at Ravenwood High School. The top four athletes in each weight qualify for the girls’ wrestling state championships held in Williamson County on Feb. 12-14th. Both of our ladies qualified. Returning state qualifier sophomore Jessica Elery finished third in what was clearly the toughest weight class in the tournament. Freshman Lindsey Morrison shocked the gym with a one point victory in the tournament finals, winning the championship. She joins some elite Viking company as only the 4th freshman wrestler in school history to qualify for state (the others were Aaron Bird, Dandre Morrison, and Jessica Elery) and only the second freshman regional champion (the other was Morrison). It was a good day to be a Viking. The boys regional is Feb. 6-7th.
