Accounting Department

Processes all payments for goods and services, establishes and collects accounts receivables, maintains the general ledger and prepares monthly and annual financial statements, all in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Maintaining accounting records and requesting reimbursement for all Federal Programs is also a service provided.

All school board accounts are audited annually by the State Comptroller's Office. Our school system is one of only a few in the State of Tennessee that has complied with the new financial reporting model required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Statement No. 34. This model promotes improved fiscal and operational accountability. Included is the requirement to establish procedures for the recording of depreciation of fixed assets as well as reporting liability for compensated absences.
