The technology department budget provides for all of the technology resources used in the CMCSS except for Child Nutrition and Special Education. This includes hardware, software, network connections, communication systems, training and maintenance for all 40 individual locations within the district.

Hardware consists of teacher work stations that contain a computer, a TV or LCD, a printer and a cart to hold it; laboratory computers; computers for administrators and clerks; servers; and specialized computer furniture.  

Software programs allow the computer to be used in a variety of ways including:  improving reading and writing skills; researching through online sources; enhancing textbooks; video editing and supporting student administrative systems, such as grade reporting and attendance. The administrative software allows Accounting, Payroll and Human Resources to function.

The wide area network (WAN) provides the connectivity between all locations and the Internet. The local area network (LAN) connects all the rooms within a building.

Communications systems within CMCSS consist of telephone systems within each building, cell phones for supervisors and principals, nurses covering emergencies for more than one school and technicians that must contact vendor helpdesks from areas that do not have telephones nearby. A radio system provides communications between bus drivers, the transportation office and schools. A system wide email system provides written communications between all locations and the world.
