Fact Sheet - July 17, 2008
CMCEA and CMCSS met today at 1:00 to continue negotiations. Appendix A was tentatively agreed upon to remain the same as 07-08 for 08-0 school year. This was the only opener left to be agreed upon. The next step is for the proposed MOA to be placed on the web site with the agreed changes and for each organization to be given an opportunity to ratify. The mutual goal is to have the ratification process completed by August 13.
Fact Sheet - April 17, 2008
The negotiations teams for CMCEA and CMCSS met on April 17, 2008. The following Articles and Appendices Tentatively Agreed. Article XXIX Duration – three years with automatic openers each year for salary. Appendices B, C, D, And E with only minor editorial changes.
Article VIII was presented by the District to remain as is and there was no counter from the Association. It will be revisited at a later session. Article XXXIV and Appendix A remain open for further negotiation.
There was also agreement to submit a Memorandum of Agreement to the TNDOE as required by Public Charter 376. The chief negotiators were charged to draft language for the submission. This draft will be reviewed by the teams prior to being sent to the TNDOE.
Fact Sheet - March 16, 2008
To date negotiations between CMCEA and CMCSS have yielding the following results.
Articles tentatively agreed: I through VII, IX through XXVIII, and XXXI through XXXIII
Of these the following changes were made:
- Article IX:
The Benefit is available to employees with a hire date prior to July 1. 2008 was added to paragraph IX.B.2. - Article XVII:
Teachers on paid leave, unless incapacitated, are responsible for their regular responsibilities that can be accomplished while not in attendance was added sentence two in paragraph one. Vacated by a teacher on unpaid leave was added to the last sentence in the first paragraph. - Other leaves of absence as may be legislated by the Federal or State Government was added to B.1.
- Article XVI:
3. Personal leave may not be used on in-service or staff development days except in an emergency was added to C. This was pulled out of the current C.2 to clear up the intent of the in-service exception and staff development was added. - Article XVIII:
Tennessee Code Annotated was replaced with Rules of the Tennessee Department of Education State Board of Education in two locations to align with the governing rules of teacher evaluation. - Article IV:
Two classroom periods was replaced with two hours per day in two locations in E. - Articles VIII, XXIX, XXX, XXXIV, and the supporting Appendices remain open.
