Local leaders are working together to proactively disseminate factual and relevant information to our community about the Swine Flu. Through this website link http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ you can learn more about preventive measures and responses should any symptoms occur. Montgomery County is in regular contact with state and local health officials, and they are conducting close surveillance of the unfolding situation. They are operating under normal conditions and have not deemed this an emergency. Plans are in place for response should that need arise.
The School System today has issued a recorded telephone message for all students and staff. Here is the text of the message: Hello – this is the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System’s Communication Office. I am calling today to let you know that important information about prevention of a novel flu virus commonly referred to as swine flu is being sent home with our students. There has been a probable case diagnosed in Nashville, but no case has been diagnosed in Montgomery County. Our school system is taking precautionary measures as we share this information with you. Additionally, we want you to know that we are maintaining disinfection practices for our school facilities and buses. Should any outbreak occur in the state or community, the state and local health departments are committed to keeping everyone informed. As always, prevention of disease calls for many common sense measures which are described within the handouts students will take home. More information is available on our website at www.cmcss.net. Thank you for your attention.
