Moore Magnet Principal Decides She’s Going Back to the Classroom

Friday, April 2, 2010

Laura Black, the first principal of Moore Magnet Elementary School of Math, Science and Technology, has decided after six years in the position that she wants to go back to where her education career began: the classroom.

Laura Black“I have come to a place in my career where I realize that the classroom is the place I am most fulfilled and I have decided that next school year, that is where I want to be. My heart is filled with the wonderful children, parents and staff I have been honored to serve for the past six years. I will cherish the memories of being here and I am confident that the person who will replace me in the principal’s office next August will continue the work of inspiring students and the educators who teach them,” Black said.

Prior to taking on the task of setting up CMCSS’ first magnet school, Black was assistant principal at Northeast Elementary School and also taught at Moore.

She will begin the 2010-11 school year as a teacher at Burt Elementary. The Moore principal position will be posted on Monday for interested applicants.
