Two Northwest High School students have made names for themselves in the state of Tennessee and CMCSS has reason to be proud of their accomplishments. The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education recognized these two students at its July meeting.
Elizabeth Coleman - Elizabeth is a successful high school researcher who defended independent experimental research on the state level two years in a row. She has twice been published in the Tennessee Junior Academy of Science Handbook - as a sophomore she had her abstract published and as a junior her research, which focused on learning styles, was selected as one of the top papers presented on the state level. Her paper will be published in the Handbook this fall. The Handbook goes to all public high schools in the state. Over 100 papers are submitted annually to compete on the state level. Of those about 25 are selected to defend. Each year only 7 papers are selected for publication.
Richard Henderson - Richie was selected this year as Governor of Boys’ State. Boys’ State hosted 550 delegates this year. Delegates attending Boys State organize political parties and establish city, county and state governments by election, complete primaries and political campaigns. Richie's ability to achieve this accomplishment in such a short period of time, pursuading strangers to vote for him as Governor is a testimony to what an outstanding young man Richie Henderson is. He is truly an asset to NWHS and CMCSS.
