Construction Begun on NWHS

Architect Gary Violette and contractor R.G. Anderson have begun the process of renovating CMCSS' third oldest high school. Elected officials, school staff and parents joined in symbolically turning shovels of dirt at the site as construction begins for the two- to three-year project.

Principal Dr. Bryan Johnson and School Board Vice Chairman Josh Baggett both spoke of the excitement and pride for the school and what it will soon look like.  As part of the project, the school's front administrative office will face the softball field. A new theatre, auxiliary gym and enclosed hallways connecting the separate buildings are highlights of the project.  Additionally, staff and students are excited about new ceilings and other cosmetic and wiring upgrades to the 41-year-old facility.

County Commissioners, County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, school system and Northwest administrators, parents and community members joined in the groundbreaking ceremony.
