Administrative Appointments Announced for CMCSS

Multiple administrative appointments have been announced for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Melissa Izatt has been selected to serve as the Director of Educator Quality. Izatt will lead the district’s efforts in attracting and retaining the highest quality teacher candidates. She is a Clarksville native, product of CMCSS schools, and has been employed with the district since 2001. Over the past 18 years with the district, Izatt has served as a classroom teacher, after-school program director, assistant principal, Substitute Program Manager, and most recently as a Human Resources Coordinator. In 2009, she earned the Distinguished Classroom Teacher and Teacher of the Year honors as an educator at Northeast Elementary School. Izatt received both her B.S. in Elementary Education and M.A.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University. In 2008, she was named Graduate Student of the Year at APSU. Dr. Phyllis Casebolt, who has served as Director of Educator Quality for nearly seven years and is a 30-years plus CMCSS veteran, will take on the mantle of leading the system’s federal programs. In her new role, Dr. Casebolt will provide leadership for the facilitation and coordination of programs associated with the Every Student Succeeds Act. She earned her doctorate of leadership and professional practice from Trevecca Nazarene University, her M.A. in education from Austin Peay State University where she also completed undergraduate work. She received her B.S. from Minot State University in North Dakota. Other experience within CMCSS was as principal at both Clarksville High and West Creek Middle schools. CMCSS Enrollment Center

Beginning June 10, 2019, the CMCSS Enrollment Center, located at 430 Greenwood Ave., will be open M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., throughout the calendar year when district offices are open.

School Board Position Opening

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking qualified applicants for the position of School Board Member to represent School District #3 (County Commission Districts 8, 9, and 12) until the next general election to be held in August 2020. Applicants must: be a Tennessee citizen; be at least 18 years of age; reside in School District #3; have a high school diploma or G.E.D.; and be a registered voter in Montgomery County. Board members may not be employees of the School System.

2019 CMCSS Teacher Job Fair

The 2019 Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Teacher Job Fair will take place on April 12. During the Teacher Job Fair, candidates will have the opportunity to meet the principal from each school and learn more about what makes CMCSS The Defining Difference. Intent to hire contracts may be offered on the day of, or the weeks following, the event. CMCSS Recognized for Exemplary Services to Supporting Students

The Tennessee Department of Education has selected the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System as one of six districts to be named as an Exemplary ACCESS District. ACCESS is the acronym for All Children are Challenged and Equipped for Success in School.   CMCSS was recognized for its intensive work and exceptional dedication to providing ACCESS for all students to high quality instruction and intervention over the past two years through the State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG).   This designation is based on training participation data, dedication to the grant design, improvements in teaching methods, improvements in Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) quality, improvements in reading screener scores, and efforts to expand the trainings systemwide. The department is announced this recognition during two sessions at the Partners in Education (PIE) Conference this January.   This work has given CMCSS the opportunity to partner with TDOE and 29 other districts across the state as we impact each student in every facet of their education in the least restrictive setting. This dedication to our educators and students has, and will continue to, positively affect all students in CMCSS for many years to come. These efforts are helping to ensure that All Children are Challenged and Equipped for Success in School.  District SPDG supervisor Rebecca Britt and SPDG facilitators Elaine Hoffert and Debbie Jones, are dedicated to continued opportunities for schools to participate in SPDG 1.0 and 2.0 trainings as schools continue to build upon the success of the grant and create positive, motivating, empowering learning environments throughout the district.


Open Enrollment for 2019-20 School Year

Additionally, specific grade levels in seven elementary schools and two middle schools are available for open enrollment for the 2019-20 school year.
