The legislation for the Voluntary Pre-K for Tennessee Act of 2005 was passed by both the House and the Senate in May of 2005. This law provides for the use of $25 million in excess lottery dollars to establish quality pre-kindergarten classrooms through a competitive grant process.

Currently, CMCSS offers 20 Pre-K classrooms in the following elementary schools: Liberty, Norman Smith, Minglewood, Barksdale, Byrns Darden, Kenwood, Hazelwood, Moore Magnet, Cumberland Heights, Montgomery Central, St. Bethlehem, West Creek, Woodlawn, Ringgold Elementary Schools and Austin Peay State University's Child Development Center.

Please contact Theressa Powell at 648-5653 ext. 1005 or theressa.powell@cmcss.net for additional information about Pre-K programs in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools.
