About Me

Welcome to Criminal Justice! I am looking forward to working with Criminal Justice students this year. COURSE OBJECTIVES: -To encourage student participation in law and other areas of the Criminal Justice system. -To provide a basic understanding of the development of policing, the legal system and the court system. -To promote awareness of current issues and controversies relating to law and the legal system. -To improve basic criminal justice skills; including critical thinking and reasoning, communication, observation and problem solving. -To improve understanding of the roles that the law, lawyers, law enforcement officers and the legal system play in our society.


Classroom Expectations

1.  Come to class on time and prepared to learn.

2.  All personal electronic devices (phones, iPods, etc.) must be off and out of sight during class time.

3.  Be respectful, responsible, and safe.

4.  INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY At the instructor’s discretion, lecture, readings (assigned or current event based), videos (movies/documentaries), class discussions, research papers, and class (individualized or grouped) projects may be used to instruct the class.

5.  INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY Students will be afforded the opportunity to participate in live demonstrations involving handcuffing techniques, mock accident, crime scene and criminal interviews as well as physical agility aspects of a police recruit.
