About Me

I am so excited to be at Moore Magnet Elementary School! I am originally from Ohio where I received a B.A. in Psychology and a Master Degree in School Counseling. I then moved to Oklahoma where I was an Elementary School Counselor for 4 years. I got married in 2013 and that is when I moved to Hawaii. I am now ready for my next adventure in Tennessee. A big part of my job is small group counseling and individual counseling. If you feel your child may benefit from counseling, please contact me by email tanya.hammond@cmcss.net or by phone 931-648-5635 ext 1190. I look forward to working with all the families at Moore Magnet Elementary.

Individual Sessions

I will meet with students individually and help them deal with any problems they struggle with at school. Students may ask to speak to me at any time. If you would like me to visit with your child please feel free to contact me at any time. Individual Sessions are only given as needed (i.e. friendship problems, behavior issues, etc.). If your child needs addition counseling beyond this, I can make recommendations for counseling outside the school system.

Small Group Counseling

Students are invited to participate in small group counseling sessions. Children who share a common concern, meet together to receive support through talking, learning, and sharing. Participation in these groups is voluntary. What kind of groups are offered?

Divorce - for students whose parents are talking about divorce, divorced, or getting remarried.

Self Esteem - for students who struggle with self image and an “I can’t” attitude.

Strong Emotions - for students who struggle with anger control.

Worry - for students who worry about everything!

Friendship - for students who are shy, struggle to make friends, and struggle maintaining good relationships.

Deployment - for students who have a parent deployed.

Grief - for students who have had a family member recently pass away.

At the beginning of the year students in grades 3rd - 5th have the option to sign up for groups. Teachers also can make referrals. If you feel your child would benefit from group counseling, I would love to hear from you. I will honor all parent and teacher referrals.
