About Me

I'm so excited to be a part of "The best school in Montgomery County" and teach SOCIAL STUDIES to our newest Eagles.. I look forward to getting to know each of my students. I like to make learning relevant and fun by having students tie in real world situations and learning occasional hand motions and movements. I have a son, Leigh, who is an APSU graduate (like his mom--GO GOVS!). I enjoy singing in my church choir, going on mission trips, playing games, and meeting new people. Please feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns you have this school year.

Every year Google holds a competition for K-12 students to create a google logo based on a theme. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and enter for the chance to win College scholarships. The following link (copy and paste this link) https://doodles.google.com/d4g/ will connect you with all the proper information and documents. Mr. Taylor also will have entry forms and can answer any questions you might have.

This year's Theme: What Inspires me?

Does art inspire you? Clouds that look like faces? Sugar? Discovering new galaxies? Artists have looked to the world around them for centuries to gain inspiration. This year’s 10th anniversary of Doodle 4 Google asks students to do the same. The winner’s artwork will be made into an interactive doodle on Google.com as well as loads of scholarships and prizes. The contest is open for entries from January 8th – March 2nd, 2018.

Entry Form (copy and paste this link) https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/doodles.google.com/en//d4g/assets/d4g-entry-form.pdf

A few important facts:

1) Students can submit their entry on their own at home or turn them into me at school (Just make sure the parents have signed and completed the bottom of the entry form).

2) Each student can only turn in one entry (only the first entry will be counted)

3) Students cannot work together on one entry

4) Designs cannot contain logos of companies

5) Entries will be disqualified if they are not original work

6) Students can use any materials they choose to complete the entry

Google Classroom login

This is a great resource for keeping up with our lessons. Most students have their login information saved on their student computers, so when they go home, they "forget" the student code that can be entered once and saved on your home computer. Here is a list of the student codes for each class period.

1st-- pqexcc1

2nd--m7liam

4th (SUCCESS)-- l9qpvs

5th--2gbua2

6th--ydvioi

CAN I TURN IN A MISSING ASSIGNMENT LATE? SURE!!! You can turn in late assignments, but there is a late penalty. It's better to go ahead and practice the concept again before a test, quiz, benchmark, or TNREADY and even a failing grade is better than just getting a zero for not turning in an assignment.

• Logging into student email.

1. Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/ (or click the link to the right).

2. Your username: "my.name123"@students.cmcss.net

a. "my.name123" is the same student login for computers at school. (Example my.name123)

b. Followed by @students.cmcss.net (no spaces or capital letters)

c. It is recommended that you copy your student login ("my.name123") because you will need to enter it on a new screen before you enter your password.

3. Your password is your initials capitalized and the last 4 of the student PIN. (Example MN1234)

4. When you first log in, make sure to set the time zone as Central Time for US or your email time will seem weird.

5. If teachers email you from powerschool, you will receive an email here.

6. If you have any overdue library books or fines, you will receive an email here.

7. If your student debt becomes overwhelming, your access to email and powerschool may be denied.

TIS THE SEASON......OF MAKING LISTS !

1) Check powerschool- you can have your child log into his or her account or get information about creating your own account from the office.

2) Check planners- Elite team students are required to write the assignment and the clear target in Science, Social Studies, Math, and RLA every day. This is a great way to know about upcoming tests and quizzes, and if your child REALLY doesn't have any HW !

3) Check closets. Some of our students are leaving their jackets, planners, textbooks, and other items in our classrooms or they are piling up in their lockers. Sometimes students let their friends borrow these items as well. If you haven't seen an item in a while ask you child about it.

4) Check temperatures. If a student has a temperature he or she will not only feel miserable, but they run the risk of passing germs to those around them.

5) Middle school teachers always love getting BOXES OF TISSUE, sanitizer, and pencils. If you have the opportunity, please send some to school.
