About Me

My name is Miss Taylor Kane. I grew up in a military family and spent my life moving all around the country. I've lived in 10 different states and absolutely love to travel! I've spent the past two years teaching high school English and Photojournalism in Loudoun County, Virginia and the past five years teaching middle school theatre arts with the Duke University TIP program. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English with specializations in Secondary Education and Theatre Arts from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In my spare time I like to hang out with my two cats, Ollivander and Fitzgerald, do yoga, drink coffee, and write poetry.

This week we will wrap-up the first half of Unit C2 on Argument Writing and Nonfiction Texts. Students will finish reading articles to plan their argument essay, and then write their argument essay at the end of the week. Please encourage your student to submit all assignments, regularly check PowerSchool, and complete all extra-credit opportunities through re-writes and quiz corrections.

Academic Tip: Ask your student to outline their Argument Writing Paper for you. We will write this at the end of the week, but have been preparing for it all unit. Ask them how they will prove whether or not they are in support of keeping zoos in the United States.
