Minglewood Principal Named

Michelle Brock-Demps will be principal at Minglewood Elementary in the upcoming school year. She previously served as executive principal at Neely’s Bend Middle Prep and as executive principal at Madison Middle School. She worked with MNPS for 11 years. She also has administrative experience in the Memphis Public School system.

Heaston has been named principal of Kenwood High School for the upcoming school year. He replaces Hal Bedell, who retires this month.



Glenellen AP Announced

Jennifer Menees has been selected as Assistant Principal for Glenellen Elementary School for the upcoming school year. She replaces Loralee BeCraft, who was named Principal of Montgomery Central Elementary.

Board Selects House as Next Schools Director

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board has selected Millard House II as the next director of schools to replace Dr. B.J. Worthington, who is retiring on June 30. The Board voted to have Board attorney Kathryn Olita initiate contract negotiations with Mr. House.



Parents, Please Join the CMCSS ‘Read for 20’ Campaign!

Over the summer, students experience “summer slide” when they sit idle over the summer months. Children who do not read over the summer will lose more than two months of reading achievement. Exposure to reading is important in developing vocabulary for fluency and comprehension. CMCSS is working with myOn to provide summer access to over 5,000 free digital books. Please see instructions below for access to the free books. So, be sure to set up a routine for reading, make reading fun, and make sure your child reads every day!



Assistant Principal for Moore Magnet Elementary Announced

Assistant Principal for Moore Magnet Elementary School Announced Julie Amstutz has been selected as assistant principal of Moore Magnet Elementary School beginning with the 2017-18 school year. Mrs. Amstutz currently serves as the academic coach at Moore Magnet. Previously, she has served as an instructional specialist for the Maryland State Department of Education, a school data analyst in New York, and instructional leader and teacher in various capacities during her more than twenty-year career in education.



Montgomery Central Elementary School Principal Announced

BeCraft has been selected principal of Montgomery Central Elementary School beginning the 2017-18 school year. She replaces Nancy Grant who is retiring after 32 years as principal.



CMCSS Director of Schools Earns Top Honors with STEM Excellence Award

CMCSS Director of Schools Earns Top Honors with STEM Excellence Award The Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN) announced today the winners of the “STEM Excellence Awards,” a series of competitive awards that recognize outstanding teachers, leaders, and advocates in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. Dr. B. J. Worthington, Director of Schools for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS), was awarded the Excellence in STEM Leadership Award.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board will make its selection for the next Director of Schools on Tuesday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. The Board hosted four finalists over the previous two weeks. The individual selected will replace Dr. B.J. Worthington, who is retiring at the end of this school year. The four finalists are: Dr. Aimee Wyatt, Dr. Bryan Johnson, Mr. Millard House and Dr. Kathleen Howe.
