What is the Teacher Residency Program?

Annual Interest Meetings

Do you or someone you know desire to be an educator? Learn more about the Teacher Residency program, an alternative pathway to teaching with no out-of-pocket cost for participants. Meetings are held annually, and the application period is usually in the Fall/Winter of each year.

If you are interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a three-year accelerated program to receive licensure in special education intervention with an endorsement to teach general education K-5 elementary grades, please join us for the 2027-28 interest meeting on November 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Central Services South.

If you already hold a bachelor’s degree and are interested in obtaining a master’s degree or certification to teach middle-grade English or Math (with an optional English Language Learners certification), or are seeking a master’s degree in K-5 with dual certification in Special Education, please join us for the 2027-28 interest meeting on November 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Central Services South.

The Teacher Residency Program at CMCSS provides a pathway to teaching for those interested in a non-traditional approach to a degree or certification.

Teacher Residents contribute to excellence by providing instructional and non-instructional support to students while learning best practices for a career in education from an outstanding CMCSS educator.

CMCSS has partnered with colleges and universities in the surrounding area, including Austin Peay State University, Nashville State Community College, and Lipscomb University.

Residents will incur no expenses for tuition or textbooks. During this time, teacher residents will serve as full-time Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) employees at a Title I school.
