About Founders, INC.

Founders, INC. is a hub for student entrepreneurs and innovators from across all CMCSS high schools. Students attending classes at Founders, INC. will be immersed in an authentic entrepreneurship experience as they work to develop a real business over the course of a school year.  Under the guidance of business and industry experts, students will follow the Lean Startup cycle to fully develop their products or services. Those who return for year two of the program will have the opportunity to launch their business, with the goal of scaling it into a functioning and sustainable venture. 

Admission Requirements

  • CMCSS students entering 11th or 12th grades
  • Good attendance and behavior
  • On track to graduate
  • Interest in entrepreneurship and innovation 

Founders, INC. doesn’t look like a traditional high school.  The space has been designed to include everything needed to kindle the entrepreneurial spirit. The facility includes:

  • Collaborative and private workspaces furnished with team tables, projection stations, multi-use writing surfaces, and conference call capabilities
  • A fabrication lab for product development and prototyping that includes 3D printers, laser engravers, sewing machines, woodworking tools, die-cut machines, and more!
  • A marketing department for the creation of podcasts, broadcasts, media art, posters, and other swag
  • A formal presentation space equipped with a stage, large display screen, lighting, and microphones, video capabilities, and a green room/prep space.

 

Business and industry professionals play a vital role by serving as Mentors or Guest Lecturers, sharing their expertise and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
