CMCSS Football Game Changes

Due to heavy rains, the following football games have been changed: CHS v Lewisburg, MS – 7 p.m., Friday @ APSU; Kenwood v Northeast moved to APSU Saturday @ Noon; Rossview v Wilson Central moved to APSU @ 4 p.m. Saturday; West Creek v Northwest has moved to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. @ APSU; Montgomery Central @ Portland has been moved to Saturday @ 2 p.m.

Northwest High AP Selected

Blackley has been selected as the new assistant principal for Northwest High School. She is a 21-year veteran of education in Alabama, Georgia, Missisisppi and, most recently, in Covington, Tenn.

NEMS to Dismiss at 10 AM today

Due to some mechanical issues with the air conditioning unit at Northeast Middle School, temperatures are at uncomfortable levels and not conducive to productive learning. For that reason, CMCSS  is dismissing students at 10 AM. We will follow the directions you have designated on your student’s emergency card for dismissal. If they are a bus rider, they will arrive home four hours earlier than their normal drop off. Buses will be getting as close to the student’s home for drop off as possible to ensure they are able to enter their home. If they cannot enter their home, they will return to the bus and will be transported back to Northeast Middle to be picked up.

John Miller Chosen for District Programs and Activities Coordinator

Experienced administrator and athletic director John Miller has been chosen as the District Programs and Activities Coordinator. Miller has served as athletic director at Clarksville and Rossview High Schools, having experience in transportation coordination, facility use management, TSSAA rules and regulations and training and development of coaches. He has 27 years experience as an educator, with 18 years as an assistant principal, 20 years as an athletic director and 10 years as a head football coach. In addition to working in CMCSS, Miller also has experience at Fort Campbell High School and Clarksville Academy.

TN Promise Scholarship Application

Please note: This article was originally published on 8/10/2017. Information and/or dates from past events may be not be relevant for the current school year. The Class of 2018 TN Promise scholarship application is now open! Any student that is anticipating graduating with the Class of 2018 must apply for TN Promise online to become eligible for the scholarship. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2017. Students who do not apply by the deadline will not be eligible for the scholarship.

Two Administrative Appointments Announced

Damaris Last, who has served as Assistant Principal at Northwest High School, has been selected as principal of West Creek Middle School. She is a doctoral candidate in educational leadership and professional practice at Trevecca Nazarene University, with a projected completion of May 2018. She earned her ED.S. from Lipscomb University and a M.A. in teaching from Austin Peay State University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In addition to her administrative experience at Northwest, she previously taught at Montgomery Central High School. Tearza Baggett, who has served as an academic coach at Glenellen Elementary School, has been selected Assistant Principal for Norman Smith Elementary School. In addition to her experience as academic coach, Ms. Baggett has six years of teaching experience. She earned her M.A. in educational leadership from Austin Peay State University, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Impeartrice Named Interim Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Sean Impeartrice has been named Interim Chief Academic Officer for CMCSS. Dr. Impeartrice most recently has served as Secondary Special Education Coordinator in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. Previous experience includes serving as a teacher and as principal in both Franklin, Tenn. and in Metro Nashville schools. He previously served two years as Chief Academic Officer for CMCSS, and has five years experience as CMCSS Middle Schools Director.
