CMCSS Grad Rate September 15th, 2017

CMCSS Grad Rate is 95.1%

The state Department of Education today released graduation rates across Tennessee. CMCSS’s rate is 95.1%! “Our initial glimpse at the data shows strong promise in reference to the hard work and focus that our students and teachers continue to make. We plan to be intentional about finding opportunities for continuous improvement and building on our successes in every way possible,” according to Schools Director Millard House. Here are the graduation rates by school: Kenwood High, 91.4 Montgomery Central, 93.7

Dr. Padgett Appointed as Assistant Principal, School Support Coordinator at Rossview High

Dr. Rebecca Padgett has been selected as assistant principal and school support coordinator at Rossview High School. Padgett has worked in CMCSS for 12 years, most recently as academic coach for the Academies of CMCSS. She has experience as the AVID coordinator and teacher at Rossview, and as an English teacher at Northeast High School. Other academic experience includes being an adjunct instructor at Draughons Junior College. She has served as assistant women’s basketball coach at Austin Peay and head women’s basketball coach at the University of West Alabama.

APSU Game of the Week

College and Career Night Set for Sept. 18

The annual Clarksville-Montgomery County College and Career Night is Monday, Sept 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Austin Peay State University Foy Center. (This date was mistakenly listed on the printed calendar mailed to students’ homes.) The following colleges, secondary schools and businesses will be on site to provide information (others also may be present): American Job Center Appalachian State University Arcadia University Art Institute of TN-Nashville

CMCSS Receives State Grant Funds to Attract Diverse, High-Quality Teachers

Tennessee Department of Education Awards Planning Grants to Spur Innovation in Increasing Educator Diversity NASHVILLE— Education Commissioner Candice McQueen awarded funds to five school districts today for Diversity Innovation Planning Grants, with Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools receiving nearly $7,700. These grants underscore the department’s commitment to supporting a high-quality, diverse, and effective educator workforce that meets the needs of all students.   “Diversity is something we honor and respect. As a district focused on continuous improvement, it makes sense that having a high quality, diverse teaching force would be an integral part of making this school district even better,” according to CMCSS Director of Schools Millard House II.

Tennessee School Districts Organize School Supply Drive for Texas Students

School superintendents and their school districts across the State of Tennessee are joining forces to help their fellow superintendents and districts in the State of Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey. Members of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents, TOSS, have announced that they will be participating in a school supply drive, known as Tennessee Volunteers For Texas, to provide new school supplies and money for the students in hurricane ravaged areas. TOSS Executive Director Dale Lynch said that school districts across Tennessee reached out to him for ways to help.

CLARKSVILLE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED TODAY-SEPT 1, 2017

Due to flooded roads and downed power lines and roads blocked by fallen trees, schools in CMC are closed today.  Twelve-month employees should report to work.  If conditions prevent employees from getting to work, they should contact their supervisor.
