Informational Sessions for 2026 Teacher Residency Program Cohort

Earn a College Degree or Teaching Certification at No-Cost Through CMCSS Teacher Residency Program

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will hold informational sessions for the community for those interested in participating in the Teacher Residency Pathways. Applications will open for the next set of teacher residency programs on November 10, 2026.

Those interested in pursuing a degree or certification in education can attend one of two sessions.

On Monday, November 9, at 5:00 p.m., leaders in the Teacher Residency Program will discuss the Elementary-Middle Teacher Residency. This program will allow those who do not currently hold a bachelor’s degree to pursue certification and licensure in special education intervention with a general education endorsement. Participants can choose between the elementary or middle grades pathway options. Residents will earn an Associate’s in Teaching from Nashville State Community College, then transfer to Austin Peay State University to complete a Bachelor’s degree and licensure requirements.

Selected candidates will also work and be compensated as CMCSS Teacher Residents throughout the program.

On Thursday, November 13, at 5:00 p.m., interested candidates will learn about the Lipscomb Teacher Residency (LTR) and Lipscomb Middle Teacher Residency (LMTR) programs available through a partnership with Lipscomb University. Through this pathway, residents will either earn their teaching certification or pursue their master’s degree and teaching certification. Interested applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree.

Those who wish to pursue a career in elementary education (K-5) will learn about the one-year program where residents earn their teaching certification. Those who want to earn their master’s degree will gather information on the one-and-a-half-year program that pursues the degree and certification, allowing candidates to teach middle school math or English.

Due to limited parking and space, the meeting is exclusively reserved for interested candidates. Both meetings will be held at Central Services South, 1312 Highway 48 in Clarksville.

Applications for the Teacher Residency Program are due January 8, 2027.
