New Administrative Announcements

Helen Nicholas has been chosen to fill the split position for the remainder of the year between Burt Elementary School and Barksdale Elementary School. The responsibilities for the split position include assistant principal duties at Burt Elementary School and to oversee the development and implementation of the Spanish Immersion program at Barksdale.  Next year, Nicholas will serve full-time at Barksdale to lead the Spanish Immersion program.  This position became available when Melody Nix returned to the classroom and assistant principal, Maribeth Mathis became the interim principal of Burt Elementary School.

Nicholas previously served as academic coach at Carmel Elementary beginning in 2012. She was a classroom teacher at Hazelwood Elementary, beginning in 2002. She earned her educational leadership endorsement from University of Tennessee – Martin. She has a M.A. in reading and a B.S. in elementary education from Austin State University.

Ashlie Perry will be appointed as the full-time assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School. Perry will be replacing Nicholas.  She has been serving as a half-time assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School and Ringgold Elementary School. She served as fourth grade teacher at Liberty Elementary, an academic coach at Norman Smith Elementary, and fourth grade teacher at Minglewood. She earned her Ed. S. in educational leadership from Austin Peay, where she also earned her master’s in teaching. She received a B.S. in child development from Middle Tennessee State University.
