Teacher Residency Pathways and Hiring

CMCSS will hold informational sessions for those interested in participating in our innovative, nationally-recognized Teacher Residency Pathways. If you have ever considered a career in education, the Teacher Residency Program allows you to pursue a dream without tuition or textbook expenses. Selected candidates will also be employed as CMCSS educational assistants throughout the program. Applications will open on Nov. 18 and are due Jan. 9, 2023.

On Thu., Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m., leaders in the Teacher Residency Program will discuss the Elementary/Middle Teacher Residency. This program will allow those who do not currently hold a bachelor’s degree to pursue a degree and license to teach elementary or middle-grade levels and will also earn a special education interventionist endorsement through a three-year program. Residents will begin coursework at Nashville State Community College and transfer to Austin Peay State University to complete degree requirements. Current high school seniors can apply for this program!

On Thu., Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m., interested candidates will learn about the Lipscomb Teacher Residency (LTR) and Lipscomb Middle Teacher Residency (LMTR) programs available through a partnership with Lipscomb University. Through this pathway, residents will either earn their teaching certification or pursue their master’s degree and teaching certification. Interested applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree.

Additionally, CMCSS is still hiring for several certified and classified positions. As you may have recently heard, CMCSS leadership is seeking approval for a mid-year, 5% raise for all employees and substitutes on a CMCSS pay schedule. This proposed $7.3 million investment in our teachers, bus drivers, custodians, educational assistants, food service, substitutes, and other positions is an initial step in CMCSS’ goal to improve employee compensation. Dr. Luna-Vedder has continued to reiterate that CMCSS can and will be the best school system in the state to both work and attend.

If you or someone you know is interested in making a positive impact in the lives of students and helping CMCSS continue to improve its services, please visit cmcss.net/employment for more information.

Winter is Coming

Although there are still ample autumn leaves on the trees, winter will be here before we know it. Many of our students, and even many adults, get excited about snow and wait in anticipation for Anthony to call when those shades of blue appear on the radar. We want to make sure all our families receive accurate and timely updates about inclement weather closings and other important information. Please see below for a few reminders:

  • CMCSS uses SchoolMessenger to notify families via call, text, email, and the smartphone app.
  • Mass notification emails will either come from [email protected] or an administrator’s official CMCSS email account ([email protected]), text messages from 67587, and calls from 931-802-2001.
  • Text (Y) to (67587) and opt-in to mobile messaging. Messaging and data rates from your carrier may apply.
  • Updates are posted on official CMCSS social media accounts (@cmcssinfo on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and the District’s website www.cmcss.net.
  • Please ensure that you check your sources when viewing school closure information on social media.
  • Throughout the year, if a parent or guardian needs to update his or her contact information, please visit CMCSS Parent Self-Service and click the “Update Student Information” tile to enter new contact information.

Have a great weekend!
