Cold and Flu Season

As we continue to experience cold and flu season, CMCSS is averaging a typical, pre-COVID 1-2% higher student absenteeism rate across the district. With all communicable diseases, it is important to stay home if you are sick, cover your cough or sneeze in your bent elbow, and clean your hands often.

We continue to receive feedback about the challenges with getting medical appointments during this peak time. As a reminder of CMCSS’ attendance policy, parents or legal guardians may submit notes for students to be excused up to five (5) days per school year for any reason.

Schools and Programs of Choice – Open Enrollment

CMCSS offers several non-traditional schools and programs of choice for students. These innovative programs are designed to provide families the opportunity to choose schools and programs that will help their children reach their potential. In January 2023, the open enrollment period will begin for schools and programs of choice as well as schools with available seats for the 2023-24 school year:

Schools of Choice: CMCSS K-12 Virtual, Moore Magnet STEM Elementary, Spanish Immersion at Barksdale Elementary, Early Technical College at TCAT, and Middle College at APSU

Programs of Choice: Academy of Business and Marketing (Clarksville High School), Academy of Coding and App Development (NEW! CMCSS K-12 Virtual), STEM Academy (Kenwood High School), Academy of Distribution and Logistics (NEW! Kirkwood High School), Academy of Plant and Animal Systems (Montgomery Central High School), Computer Information Technology Academy (Northeast High School), Academy of Health Science (Northwest High School), Academy of Media Arts and Technology (Rossview High School), Academy of Law and Criminal Justice (West Creek High School), and Academy of Teaching and Learning (West Creek High School)

Special Education Informational Sessions

The CMCSS Special Populations Department is beginning a new series of parent and family informational sessions on special education topics. The first informational session will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Northeast High School. The first session will cover the basics of special education and how to determine if your child is eligible for special education services (referral, evaluation, and eligibility). These informational sessions are open to all families. The session will be recorded and placed on the CMCSS Special Populations Family Site for those who cannot attend.

To RSVP for the first session and provide feedback on topics and formats for future sessions, please click here.

Student Code of Conduct Feedback

Annually, the CMCSS Student Code of Conduct is reviewed in accordance with state laws and local policy and procedure. In May 2023, the CMCSS School Board will approve the Student Code of Conduct for the 2023-2024 school year. To receive valuable input to continuously improve, CMCSS is seeking feedback from all stakeholders on the Student Code of Conduct and student discipline.

Please click here to provide feedback. The survey will be open through Sunday, January 15, 2023.
