Principal Appointments
Two CMCSS elementary principal appointments were announced Tuesday afternoon. Jessica Harris has been appointed principal at Minglewood Elementary School; and, Nabraunda Jackson has been named principal at Byrns Darden Elementary School.
Assistant Principal for Burt and Oakland Selected
Buddi Sueriro-Dean has been chosen to fill the assistant principal position shared between Burt and Oakland Elementary Schools. Ms. Sueriro-Dean has 19 years of teaching experience, with the last three years at Oakland Elementary and previous experience at Glenellen Elementary. She earned her Education Specialist degree from Austin Peay and her master’s in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University. Her bachelor’s degree is in health and human performance with a minor in education from Austin Peay. She completed the CMCSS Aspiring Administrators Academy as well as CMCSS Leadership I and II.
Vaccinations Help Prevent Serious Illness
Parents, as flu season approaches, please consider having your child vaccinated. Over 1,485 American children have died from seasonal flu (or influenza) in the past decade, and 50 of those children were from Tennessee. Countless other children became seriously ill with this virus. The flu vaccine offers the best available protection from the risk of flu death.
Pisgah Elementary Principal Selected
Jami Skevington has been chosen as the new principal of Pisgah Elementary School. She replaces Sallie Oden who is relocating to New Mexico. Skevington has served as assistant principal at Glenellen Elementary since 2014. Prior to joining CMCSS, she was principal at Sanders Middle School in Sanders, Arizona. She has 13 years of experience in elementary education in CMCSS and in Arizona. She earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and her B.A. in language arts and literature at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.

Registration for 2018 CMCSS Summer School program has been scheduled, along with the Summer School dates, times and location.
2018 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools
CMCSS is so proud to announce that Rossview High, Northwest High, and The Middle College at APSU are ranked 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools! The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 20,500 public schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. Rossview High received a silver medal and was ranked #16 in the state of Tennessee. Northwest High was ranked #28 and received a bronze medal. The Middle College at APSU received a bronze medal.

CMCSS Selected to Participate in Prestigious Kennedy Center Program
CMCSS and APSU’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) are among seven teams nationwide selected to join the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Partners in Education, a program designed to assist arts organizations throughout the nation to develop or expand education partnerships with their local school systems. A primary focus of these partnerships is to provide sustainable and robust arts-based professional development for teachers. Partnering with teachers is fundamental to arts-based learning. By the community strategically partnering to support and provide teachers with high quality and continuous arts-based professional development, teachers and students are exposed to new access points for learning.
2018 Teacher Job Fair
For the 2018-2019 school year, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System anticipates hiring approximately 400 teachers. During the Teacher Job Fair, candidates will have the opportunity to meet the principal from each school and learn more about what makes CMCSS The Defining Difference. Intent to hire contracts may be offered on the day of, or the weeks following, the event.
