Charter Schools

According to state law, nonprofit organizations with the intent to open a charter school in a Tennessee school district must apply through the local School Board for that district for authorization. The CMCSS School Board has received two applications for schools to open in the 2023-2024 school year. For more information on the applicants and to provide feedback on their applications, please click here.

Director of Schools Search

This month, the School Board and its search firm, Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) are expected to select and interview finalists for the CMCSS Director of Schools. The District will communicate with stakeholders when community feedback and interview opportunities are scheduled. Please click here for a webpage with more information.

Harassment, Assault, and Bullying

Throughout this school year, CMCSS and individual schools have reached out and asked families to partner with us to address escalating student behaviors such as vandalism linked to social media challenges and threats of school violence. We have received concerns and feedback from faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents/guardians, and community members about the increasing level of incivility, disrespect, anger, and violence of both students and adults. We are asking families to partner with us to address these concerns. Please click here for more information.

Open Enrollment

CMCSS is offering Open Enrollment in specific schools and grade levels with available capacity for the 2022-2023 school year. The Open Enrollment application period will be April 18-May 18, 2022. Space for Open Enrollment is limited to only the specific schools and grades listed. Please click here for more information.

Student Code of Conduct Feedback

Annually, the CMCSS Student Code of Conduct is reviewed in accordance with state laws and local policy and procedure. The CMCSS School Board approves the Student Code of Conduct no later than June 15 for the following school year. CMCSS is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the Student Code of Conduct for the 2022-2023 school year. Please click here to provide feedback.
