CMCSS COVID-19 Safety and Health Update March 19, 2021

Please note: This article was originally posted during a previous school year. Information and/or dates from past events may be not be relevant for the current school year. The CMCSS Communicable Disease Team has made updates to the district’s COVID-19 Safety and Health Guidelines. Key updates include: Physical Distancing: References to “six feet” for physical distancing have been removed. Today, the CDC released new guidance on physical distancing and other topics based on new studies. In general, when there is low community transmission, the physical distancing guidelines have been updated from 6 feet to 3 feet between students. The CDC continues to recommend 6 feet of distance between adults, between adults and students, during activities when increased exhalation occurs, and in common areas. Spectators at Extracurricular Events: A few updates have been made, including: Soccer and Track – 20% seating capacity in stadiums Baseball and Softball – 120 total paid spectators per game Disbursement of tickets will be conducted prior to contests through the Arbiter GoFan online system. All spectators are required to wear masks when physical distancing is not possible indoors, and are encouraged to wear masks for outdoor activities. Travel: The ban has been lifted on school- and district-sponsored student and employee out-of-state travel and the use of for-hire transportation. Important Note on Face Masks: Although our local government lifted the mask order throughout the community, masks are still required in all County and City government buildings. Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Clarksville City Mayor Joe Pitts, and County Director of Emergency Services Jimmie Edwards still highly encourage the use of face masks when physical distancing is not possible.
